Position Summary(Basic Job Function)
This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides technical support. Responsibilities may include computer programming or operations; research support; medical patient care; technical equipment maintenance, repair, fabrication or operation; or other technical support functions.
Unit Position Summary
Responsibilities include screening several Arabidopsis thaliana mutants for mucilage secretion using a microscope, Image J imaging software and excel. Additional research experiments involve sterilizing seeds, making nutrient plates, soil pots, plating seeds and genotyping these plants, identify and investigate unique plant phenotypes, etc.
We are looking for a highly motivated researcher to work 10-15 hrs / week.
Desired Qualifications
Previous research experience is not required but is strongly encouraged, attention to detail, ability to follow and understand written protocols, and reliability are highly valued.
Skills related to sterile technique, organization, excel, Microsoft, are important as well as knowledge of how to use a microscope, general background knowledge in plant genetics and molecular biology.
