Position Summary / Career Interest:

The System Manager Value Analysis is accountable for team efforts towards pricing, contracting, and customer service via enhanced relationship building and sustainment for their assigned departments. This position provides facilitation and negotiation leadership for the assigned contract portfolio and service lines with the goal of attaining the optimal balance of quality, service, availability and value. While maintaining their own portfolio, the manager collaborates with the director for supervision of staff, advanced applications of value analysis and health system program development. The system Value Analysis department collaborates with clinical end-users to enhance the quality of care to our patients by reviewing and validating the quality of the products we use, leverage clinical evidence to support standardization and utilization, the value we receive them for, and the quality of the outcomes they provide.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • The System Value Analysis Manager is responsible for the strategy of the Value Analysis program including developing and measurement of goals related to the programs performance, structure of committees, strategy for supply chain metrics in partnership with System Informatics, and new technology evaluation strategies in partnership with Strategic Business Planning (SBP).
  • Drives performance in engagement with our clinicians and other leaders within the Health System, provides actionable insights into comparison of cost, quality and utilization, incorporates knowledge from peer reviewed clinical literature to assist in making best in value decisions, and develops and incorporates processes into our daily discipline to drive continuous improvements
  • Leads Value Analysis Analysts for management of their performance, productivity, assignments, and project management.  Manages the staff to make decisions for hiring, firing, and other corrective action.
  • Works closely with Value Analysis Teams and key stakeholders to develop effective cost reduction and quality improvement strategies and coordinates with Utilization Management teams on implementation plans.  Analyzes assigned products, services and contracts with the goal of attaining the best value decision. This position oversees the approval of one-time product needs.
  • Utilizes all available tools to gain market knowledge and to access best pricing of assigned categories.
  • Manages business relationships with vendors via a formal approach to understanding, defining and supporting inter-business activities and networking. Oversee and facilitate quarterly business reviews for all product portfolios.
  • Build and sustain effective relationships to key stakeholders including but not limited to medical staff, clinicians, executive leaders and supplier executives.  Develop and manage proper communication strategies throughout these stakeholder groups. Mentor Value Analysis coordinators and analysts to manage these relationships and communication strategies similarly.
  • Develop communication, education, structure, development, and reporting opportunities to sustain and build program, and partner with other System Supply Chain positions to execute on these opportunities.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or a related field of study from an accredited college or university. OR
  • 5 or more years of experience in value analysis. OR
  • 5 or more years of experience in supply chain operations.
  • 3 or more years of supervisory experience leading people/teams.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master's Degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or a related field of study from an accredited college or university.
  • 3 or more years of project management handling multiple projects with demonstrated outcomes.
  • 2 or more years of clinical experience, including but not limited to Registered Nurse, Interventional Radiology Technologist, Surgical Technologist, Respiratory Therapist, Cath Lab Technologist, or Electrophysiologist Technologist

Preferred Licensure and Certification
  • Association of Healthcare Value Analysis Professionals (AHVAP) certification.
