STA - Strategic Communication Expert “NEXT” (6-9 months)

The Compliance function has launched its updated strategy “NEXT”. NEXT aims to

i) further and foremost continuously upgrade the Compliance function, i.e. further enhance effectiveness and efficiency, ii) simplify, iii) increase focus on data and digitalization and iv) further harmonize our E2E processes, and v) continuously grow and mature our population of compliance colleagues to stay fit for the challenges Compliance is taking on.

To facilitate and drive NEXT we have a great opportunity for a STA as a Strategic Communications Expert within the Group Integrated Compliance Functional Processes team (IC FP). This team is responsible for the design and implementation of global Compliances processes, facilitation of global steering, planning and budgeting as well as Group Compliance communications.   As a Strategic Communications Expert you work together with the Compliance Communications Expert to drive all strategic as well as operational communications activities for Group Compliance on a global scale.

Role and responsibilities

• Co-deliver NEXT communication strategy and execution plan for 2024-2026

• Translate the Compliance function’s strategy, key business priorities and challenges into communication activities and concrete planning

• Alignment of NEXT communication strategy with BAU communication activities, e.g. global HoC calls, townhalls, newsletters.

• Co-develop key storylines for the Compliance tone from the top and ensure this is shared and embraced, taking the (communication) needs of the global compliance community and other ING stakeholders into account

• Co-create information and feedback loop with the CCO MT members to report on the effectiveness of the communications strategy

• Co-develop and manage the communications activity schedule and -channels, ensuring the mix of initiatives provide communication support to all Compliance risk areas

• Develop, organize and execute (global) compliance events, conferences and calls; manage external communications suppliers such as creative/design/AV agencies

• Support with Communication BAU activities such as newsletters, community building, people engagement initiatives, etc.

As a Strategic Communication Expert you have the following traits and experience:

• University degree or equivalent

• Strategic communications experience within a global/corporate environment

• Experience of working on both strategic and operational level, not afraid to roll up sleeves whilst keeping the big picture in mind

• Off- and online/digital communication expertise (e.g. communication strategy, live communication, community management, video content, branding, direct mailing)

• Strong writing and creative skills, ability to draft storylines and narratives and able to produce engaging communications materials in a wide range of different formats and tools

• Experience of working with senior management

• Strong stakeholder management and project management skills

• Experienced with MS Office suite, preferably including Teams, Viva Engage and SharePoint Online. Experience with e-DM tools like Spotler

• Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure

• Professional-level verbal and written English

• Knowledge of Risk Management domains is advantageous
