Position Summary
The role of the Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU) Registered Nurse reports to the ACU Manager. This position is responsible for direct care of outpatients who are having a procedure in the cardiac cath lab, electrophysiology lab, interventional radiology, neuro interventional radiology, radiology, and infusion services.
Essential Position Responsibilities
Provide pre-procedure and post-procedure care to patients with procedures in the cardiac cath lab, electrophysiology lab, interventional radiology, neuro interventional radiology, radiology, and infusion services.
Efficiently complete admission process for patients, including medical history, assessment, IV start, medication reconciliation, procedure preparation, and other nursing duties
Efficiently and effectively coordinate admission care and direction of patient care for elective admission patients with physicians, the scheduling departments, and all ancillary departments.
Provide care for and monitor patients in the post-procedure area, including discharge instruction
Provide care to the patient requiring infusion
Provide assistance to coworkers to ensure adequate care and attention is provided to patients, as needed
Assist in achieving quality patient care, national patient safety goals, and regulatory requirements
Establish effective and positive relationships with patients, patient families, physicians, coworkers, volunteers, community partners, and vendors, as well as promote effective teamwork for maintaim productivity and positive patient outcomes
Strive to improve and facilitate patient care and satisfaction supported with evidenced based practices
Utilize problem-solving and critical thinking techniques, display initiative, and develop creative ways to overcome challenges
Understand the age-specific needs, including care, communication, and safety needs for the patient population served
Qualifications
Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program
Licensure and Certifications: Arkansas Registered Nurse License or a state that has enacted the RN NLC. BLS, ACLS (within 3 months), and PALS (obtained within 6 months) of hire or transfer to department. Annual dysrhythmia must be completed.
Experience: Minimum of one year of previous nursing experience preferred.
Work Environment: This position will 70% of time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment. This position will spend 30% of time standing and/or walking while pushing, pulling, lifting and/or carrying up to 50 lbs. This position will serve a culturally and linguistically diverse patient population. This position may be exposed to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
