Summary

The Special Procedures Technologist performs invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures and is responsible for the operation and quality assurance of film processing, patient monitoring and the x-ray equipment. The Special Procedures Technologist participates in the daily activities of the section by assisting as a scrub, float, and imaging technologist.Experience with invasive diagnostic and/or interventional Radiography procedures. Demonstrates technical skills and expertise. Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills. Current AHA CPR for Healthcare Workers Certification. Verbal and written skills required. Demonstrates good patient care. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development and understands the range of treatment needed for all age groups. Provides care based on the patient’s developmental needs. Experienced in the treatment of and interacts effectively with patients of all ages to include newborns, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Ability to assess patient needs correctly and take appropriate action. Through knowledge of medications, emergency procedures with appropriate action and medical equipment. Ability to work with personnel with varied training background, ie. X-ray tech, nurses, cardiovascular tech, etc. Willingness to work with Angiography equipment. Good oral and written communication skills. Maintains composure during high stress situations. Flexibility with work schedule. Ability to be on Call.Good hearing; ability to speak clearly; visual acuity; motor coordination and manual dexterity. Good physical and mental stamina to perform duties and responsibilities. Work is medium to heavy. Work requires moving of equipment and patients, exposure to x-radiation, and patient contact. May be subject to occupational exposure to include skin, eye, mucous membrane or parental contact with blood or other potentially infectious material.
