About the role

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise through in-depth knowledge of Coherent products and ability to coordinate with other teams as necessary to ensure product success. 
  • Support product development by defining, configuring, and maintaining development environments and throughout the specified product life cycle.
  • Ensures smooth implementation of company products and solutions as a point of integration between customers and Coherent technical and engineering teams.
  • Provides training to customers on best practices for integrating and advanced support of Coherent products.
  • Oversees any necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and interfacing of complex equipment and systems. 
  • Assists cross-departmental team members in assessing potential application of company products to meet customer and project expectations and preparing detailed information to support development and implementation of solutions. 
  • Interprets company and customers’ needs and clarifies action plans by means of detailed reports, failure trends, service records, parts usage, diagnostic updates, and make associated internal/external recommendations. 
  • Determines most cost-effective engineering repair/resolution to minimize customer downtime.
  • May provide follow-up support to Coherent staff and customer personnel by disseminating technical information on specific applications, integration, and other project-related items.
  • Ensures that the product integration, application, and overall solution is functioning according to specifications.
  • Provide remote support and other enhanced technical support as needed to ensure optimal product performance and customer expectations.
  • Advise management on customer satisfaction, product quality/reliability, and continuous product improvement.
  • Participate in quarterly applications training to align on business development objectives and ensure success for associated objectives.
  • Approximately 80% travel required including overnight stays

Education & Experience

  • Associates degree, equivalent technical certificate/degree, and/or associated experience 
  • 8-10 years relevant technical field service experience[AW1] 
  • Problem solving skills related to electronic/electrical, mechanical, and/or photonics products
  • Technical reading, writing, schematics comprehension, and associated diagnostic experience.

Working Conditions

  • Industrial / manufacturing w/ limited clean room environment
  • Safety focused work with regards to self and system
  • Requires frequent travel to customer sites, including overnight stays, and occasional international travel (travel approximately 30%). 
  • Requires rotational on-call time
  • Varies from normal office, remote office, and customer work site associated conditions (site conditions vary by location, flexibility required)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work on a ladder safely and effectively
  • Ability to wear required PPE (may include safety glasses, finger cots, safety shoes, hair coverings, hearing protection, etc.)
  • Must have good manual dexterity
