About the role
The Admission Nurse is responsible for admitting patients to all units their scheduled shift worked.
12 hour shift- DAYS 7:00am-7:00pm
Responsibilities:
- Admits patients to all units.
- Completes full physical assessment of newly admitted patient. Collects all minimum and extended database information.
- Calls physician for admission orders and records physician’s orders.
- Reports pertinent patient information to assigned unit nurse after admission process is completed.
- Wears a beeper and responds to all beeps in a timely manner.
- When admission of patients is completed or when there are no patients to be admitted, will prepare discharge paperwork for patients to be discharged the following day.
- Will help with discharge process when needed if no patients in house for admission.
- Manages time wisely and will assist RN with patient care as requested when there are no patients to be admitted, discharged or paperwork to prepare for discharge.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
- Adheres to policies and procedures specific to patient rights.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment; identifies and reports hazards.
- Meets all requirements for mandatory in-services.
- Adheres to policies regarding attendance, conduct, grooming, and dress code.
- Promotes a positive image of the hospital to outside agencies and the public.
- Participates in performance improvement activities as needed.
- Exhibits excellent service to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
- Shows courtesy, compassion and respect.
- Exhibits values of the organization.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse in the State of Florida
- Has at least two years of experience in rehabilitation nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Skills:
- Good physical skills, dexterity, precision, and coordination are necessary.
- Demonstrated clinical competency as evidenced by completion of unit-specific skills checklist, performance evaluation, accountabilities and competencies.
- Excellent assessment skills, good rapport with physicians, strong communication skills, manage stress appropriately; make decisions under pressure, needs minimal supervision.
