Senior AI Engineer

Summary  

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior AI Engineer to join our innovative team. This role will focus on developing and implementing generative AI solutions, working with clinical and scientific documents, and building advanced knowledge systems to enhance our diagnostic capabilities.

Job Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy generative AI models for various applications, including text generation, data augmentation, and synthetic data creation.
• Work with large volumes of clinical and scientific documents to extract key information, identify patterns, and build knowledge graphs.
• Develop and maintain knowledge systems that integrate diverse data sources and support clinical decision-making.
• Build, fine-tune, and use embedding models for semantic search, document similarity, and information retrieval tasks.
• Develop, evaluate, and integrate large language models (LLMs) and agentic frameworks (e.g., LangChain) to enable advanced reasoning, automation, and workflow orchestration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including scientists, clinicians, and software engineers, to define project requirements and deliver impactful solutions.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning, and evaluate new technologies for potential application within GeneDx.
• Ensure the quality, reliability, and scalability of AI solutions through rigorous testing and validation.
• Contribute to the development of intellectual property and publications. 

Education, Experience, and Skills

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in developing and deploying AI and machine learning models.
• Strong expertise in generative AI techniques, such as GANs, VAEs, and transformers.
• Experience working with clinical and scientific documents, including electronic health records, research papers, and genomic data.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Experience building and maintaining knowledge graphs and semantic databases.
• Hands-on experience with embedding techniques (e.g., sentence transformers, vector databases) for semantic search and retrieval.
• Experience with large language models (LLMs) and agentic frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex).
• Experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration and scalable AI deployment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.

Work Environment
