About The Role

The Application Systems Engineer acts as an automation consultant to Seegrid customers and is responsible for determining customer requirements and the resulting solution design for application scoping and proposal generation for potential Seegrid customers. The ASE will focus on integrated solutions using Seegrid products and customer and/or 3rd party software and hardware systems. This position supports the Seegrid sales team by assessing customer sites and assisting with customer presentations, and requires day-to-day interaction with sales management, sales, engineering, product development, partners, and customers.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead initiatives to continuously improve API Integrations
  • Understand customer needs for future feature developments, generate requirements documents, and drive projects to completion among application engineering, product management and engineering teams
  • Enable sales and application engineering teams to engage customers on integration capabilities through documentation and education
  • Develop, document, and implement applications for Seegrid customers
  • Develop clear and concise proposed description of non-recurring engineering labor and materials for special customer requests
  • Prepare diagrams and simulations for cross-disciplinary communication of proposed systems
  • Support sales staff with the determination of customer requirements and automated material handling solutions using Seegrid products
  • Travel to customer sites as needed to study and gather information critical to the overall system
  • Determine external control requirements for proposed AMR systems (i.e. WMS, WCS, MES, etc.)
  • Propose and prototype PLC logic and integration
  • Define and document best practices for these activities, and continuously improve them
  • Train other employees and partners and advocate for this process

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office
  • Experience with PLCs
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; must be comfortable in making customer presentations.
  • Solution minded
  • Excellent strategic and analytical thinking
  • Effective organizational and project management skills to meet deadlines while dealing with multiple projects simultaneously
  • Able to deal with complexity and change
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build effective relationships with all levels of the organization, customers and partners
  • Able to travel 40% of the time

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Network Engineering and Web API experience preferred
  • Basic Linux Experience Preferred
  • Knowledge of Information Security best practices preferred
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or warehouse optimization and system integration with material handling equipment preferred
