About the Role
The Industrial Engineering Manager is a new role and will be an integral member of our Industrial Engineering (IE) team at Stitch Fix. The IE team acts as a critical owner of Stitch Fix’s operational development and continued growth. This individual is the key driver at Stitch Fix in how we continuously evolve and improve the fulfillment environment within our network of warehouses, with a goal of ensuring we have optimal layouts, processes, and automation to run our daily operations. The role is responsible for our fulfillment centers across the US, and will support local needs at this role’s home base fulfillment center. They will maintain close relationships with our Warehouse Operations, Algorithms, Systems Engineering, and Finance teams. This role is a hybrid position at our warehouse in Phoenix, AZ.

- You will be responsible for the network wide rollout and management of large strategic initiatives, such as implementing and optimizing warehouse automation, leading a lean methods program within warehouse operations, or leading a six sigma program for the network.
- You have the opportunity to indirectly lead and inspire a team of industrial engineers and technicians across our network of warehouses in the United States.
- We analyze processes to identify and eliminate waste and constraints in warehouse processes.
- Lead the overall productivity of our operations equipment by reducing equipment cycle time, the occurrence of quality and rework defects, and unplanned downtime.
- Research and leverage technologies to design and implement new warehouse processes and equipment that will enable our warehouses to support business growth.
- You have the opportunity to implement a network wide lean warehousing program, including methods such as 5S, value analysis, standard work, SMED, TPM, and material flow systems (pull systems, theory of constraints DBR, etc).
- You have the opportunity to utilize your Six Sigma experience to train and coach others in advanced data analysis and Six Sigma methodology, and lead a network wide Six Sigma program.
- Conduct the economic evaluation of ideas and technologies, and write the business cases to support the financial well-being of our company.
- Design and continuously evaluate the layouts of our warehouses to ensure the efficient flow of goods.
- Create and update the technical specifications that define our equipment and facility standards, and warehouse automation concepts. Write the documents necessary to procure equipment and technical services such as scope of work, performance requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Provide project management and leadership throughout the entire project life cycle, including discovery, planning, design, installation, launch, and operational support.
- Experienced with utilizing the six sigma problem solving and approaching each significant problem using the DMAIC methodology
- With our Operations partners, we facilitate the creation and documentation of our operational network standards, technical operating procedures, and workstation designs.
- Lead workshops and teach others in the areas of advanced problem solving, lean methods, and process optimization.
- You’ll partner on developing, and communicating the IE project roadmap and OKRs at Stitch Fix - including chances to communicate the plan and outcomes to our senior leadership team
- You will support the facility design and layouts for all of our warehouses
- You’ll be responsible for improving key operational metrics such as cost per order, throughput (units per hour), and equipment efficiency.
- You will be a steward of our Associate first culture through enabling our associates to maximize their performance with new and exciting operational enhancements such as lean methods and collaborative automation and robotics
- You’ll be a key strategic liaison between the warehouse operations and our HQ business partners.

We’re excited about you because…
- You have 10+ years of total experience in technical roles that leverage your engineering and project management skill set.
- You have 7+ years of experience applying advanced lean methods and automation technology.
- You have 7+ years of operations experience (fulfillment operations experience is a plus!)
- You have 5+ years of project management and organizational change management experience
- You have a 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (industrial or mechanical engineering is a plus!)
- You have a Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
- You will travel close to 25% for this role.
