Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Surgery, Section of Cardiac Surgery, seeks full-time Clinical Associates. Appointees will contribute to patient care and join a vibrant and distinguished community of faculty colleagues and learners at UChicago Medicine, the Biological Sciences Division, the Pritzker School of Medicine, and the University of Chicago and its affiliates. Appointees will practice in the community setting with a focus in cardiovascular/thoracic surgery primarily at hospitals in the Advent Health System (Hinsdale and La Grange hospitals). Compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) is dependent on qualifications. These positions do not require teaching or scholarly activity.

The University of Chicago Medicine has been at the forefront of medical care since 1927. Located in historic Hyde Park, the primary medical campus includes the Center for Care and Discovery, Comer Children’s Hospital, Bernard A. Mitchell Hospital for adult inpatient care, and the Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine (DCAM) totaling more than 550 beds in service and net patient care revenues over $1.4 billion. New ambulatory facilities are located in Orland Park and the South Loop, and the Ingalls Health System has recently integrated into the network.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois and the State of Indiana, 3) be BC/BE by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (or equivalent), and 4) have completed an ACGME accredited fellowship and/or equivalent training in cardiovascular/ thoracic (CVT) surgery.
