Director, Laboratory Automation

We are seeking a Director Laboratory Automation to join Q2 Solutions, IQVIA’s laboratory business at Durham NC.

As the Director Laboratory Automation, you will be responsible for the operation, leadership, direction, and administration of laboratory testing in accordance with applicable governing clinical laboratories. You will partner with executive and global leadership to establish strategy and ensure implementation to drive achievement of annual objectives and support long-term success.

What you’ll be doing:

• Oversee the overall operations of the clinical testing function of the laboratory organization.
• Ensure that laboratory operations meet or exceed all applicable regulatory requirements.
• Oversee local lab operations and ensure global consistency and strategic/operational alignment.
• Establish effective staff selection and training programs.
• Participate in the development and implementation of the department’s operating budget.
• Keep abreast of new technical developments.
• Foster a unified culture and facilitate collaboration, cooperation, sharing of information and teamwork.
• Manage staff in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable regulations.

What We Are Looking For:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Some CAP/CLIA lab locations may require a BSc in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, medical laboratory technology or cytotechnology.
• Typically requires >12 years’ experience in a regulated environment.
• 5 years line management experience.
• In-depth knowledge of clinical testing procedures and applicable laboratory testing regulations.
• Or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 

The Knowledge, Skills and Abilities needed for this role:

• Working knowledge of quality assurance and quality control principles and in-depth knowledge of company-specific program requirements.
• Knowledge of occupational safety and health rules and regulations.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent client management and problem resolution skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting, close eye work requirement (computer, typing, reading small prints). Physical demands vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. Occasional exposure to cold temperatures.
