About you and this role –
Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Process Control Technician in La Porte/Lomax, TX.
Supports activities relating to the support of Modicon PLC’s, programming, and maintenance. Minimizes plant downtime caused by PLC system failures, while providing services that are cost-effective and sustainable. Has an overall knowledge of PLC hardware, operating system software, and networking systems. Requires full proficiency in a range of technical, operational, or analytical/scientific processes and procedures through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience to perform a variety of work assignments. Acts as an informal resource for team members with less experience. Works as part of a team for GCPL eastern region maintaining and servicing communications and automation equipment.
Responsibilities –
- Provides care and troubleshooting of the PLC’s, Wonderware HMI’s and other related process control and communications equipment.
- Provides corrective support in response to a system error conditions or failure as the first point of escalation from the region.
- Performs predictive and preventative maintenance (PPM) and health checks on systems.
- Participates in software and hardware upgrades.
- Understands and follows all identified Dow Process Automation work processes, such as the creation of PCSD2 and PCSD3 documents.
- Completes small project work including system installation, configuration, design and development.
- Provides training and knowledge transfer to plant system focal points, as well as other site support resources.
- Primary focal point for troubleshooting and upgrades for PLC’s.
- Monitors system diagnostics and maintains equipment in an evergreen state.
- Participates in risk assessment when activities to the system are required.
- Escalates issues to additional support resources and follow-ups, as necessary.
Qualifications –
- A minimum of a High school diploma OR GED equivalent.
- 5 or more years of experience in an Operations and/or Maintenance role within an industrial environment.
- Current, valid US drivers license.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Skills –
- Control experience.
- Instrumentation experience.
- Knowledge of and experience with Delta-v, ABB, and Wonderware.
- Experience with PLC Logic.
- Experience with communication systems, such as radios, satellites, and cellular.
- Experience with programming and troubleshooting flow computers.
- Associates degree or higher in Electronics, Instrumentation, IT, Networking or related field plus process control, manufacturing.
Willing and able to meet physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations–
