JOB SUMMARY: Receives direction from Senior Control, HVAC and PM HVAC managers with the goal of preparing for career advancement in the District's HVAC/Controls program. Performs all tasks in the PM department as necessary as an HVAC/Controls Technician.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following tasks describe the basic functions of the job and represent the type of work performed. They do not constitute an exhaustive list of the duties and responsibilities performed on the job. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only and are subject to flexibility dependent on organizational needs.

  • Maintains preventive maintenance program and complete documentation as required. [Daily, 50%]
  • Changes filters and lubricates equipment as required. [Daily, 5%]
  • Provides support for other departments as needed. [Daily, 5%]
  • Evaluates and maintains materials and equipment to perform duties as required. [Daily, 5%]
  • Completes work orders and requests as assigned and maintains daily work log. [Daily, 5%]
  • Performs preventive maintenance on cooling water towers to include cleaning, lubrication, and inspection. [Monthly, 5%]
  • Covers for HVAC technicians during vacation periods. [Monthly, 5%]
  • Performs preventive maintenance on chillers to include tear down of condenser water bundles for inspection and cleaning. [Semi-Annually, 5%]
  • Performs HVAC service or maintenance as required. [Monthly, 3%]
  • Maintains vehicle in a clean and neat condition. [Weekly, 3%]
  • Participates in training classes by Senior Controls and HVAC supervisors as required. [Monthly, 2%]
  • Performs preventive maintenance on boiler and domestic water heating systems to include teardown for inspections and cleaning. [Annually, 2%] 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. [Daily, 5%]

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum amounts of formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that must be met for a candidate to be considered for a position

  • High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma
  • Two (2) years of professional work experience in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and building automation systems (BAS)/building management system (BMS)/direct digital control (DDC) systems experience
  • Completion of HVAC training/school
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and/or shifts
  • Must provide after-hours contact information for emergencies
  • Must meet insurability requirements of the Colorado School District Self Insurance Pool
  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire

MINIMUM CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: The minimum certifications and licenses that must be met, valid, and unexpired for a candidate to be considered for a position

  • Valid Colorado driver’s license
  • Universal EPA/CFC certification
  • Completion of on-site DDC Training 101
  • Completion of CPO training and certification within six (6) months of employment. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Any job-related formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, certifications, licenses, and other criteria that are inessential and in addition to the minimum qualifications, certifications, and licenses

  • Four (4) years of HVAC, building mechanical controls and equipment, other direct digital control systems, and Automatrix systems experience
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS: The physical exertion, cognitive capacities, and work environments required to perform a position’s duties and responsibilities

  • Heavy work strength level (lifting or carrying up to 100 pounds)
