The Team

Women's and Children's Services at the Royal Hobart Hospital is a leading provider of specialist healthcare for children, young people, and families across Tasmania. Working within the Paediatric Outpatient Unit and as part of the "Kids with Cancer" clinical research program, the team is committed to improving health outcomes through innovative research, evidence-based practice, and participation in national and international clinical trials.

This role works closely with clinicians, researchers, study sponsors, and partner organisations including the David Collins Leukaemia Foundation to support the delivery of high-quality paediatric oncology research. The Role

As the Clinical Trials Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery and coordination of paediatric clinical trials and research projects. Working alongside Principal Investigators and multidisciplinary clinical teams, you will ensure studies are conducted in accordance with ethical, regulatory, and governance requirements while supporting participants and families throughout their research journey.

Key responsibilities include:

• Coordinating day-to-day clinical trial activities from study start-up through to completion.
• Developing and maintaining clinical trial databases and data management systems.
• Coordinating participant appointments and study activities to achieve recruitment and retention targets.
• Preparing ethics and governance submissions and maintaining regulatory documentation.
• Monitoring study compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), TGA requirements, NHMRC guidelines, and relevant privacy legislation.
• Collaborating with investigators, sponsors, external research organisations, and healthcare providers.
• Supporting audits, monitoring visits, and study reporting requirements.
• Providing advice to research teams on study protocols, procedures, and research governance requirements.
• Contributing to quality improvement activities and the advancement of clinical research within Women's and Children's Services.

 

You Will Need

• Experience in database management, data collection and analysis including well developed skills and ability in the use of common information technology tools and systems.
• Demonstrated research and analytical skills and experience in quantitative research methodologies including planning, coordination and implementing activities related to research projects and clinical trials.
• Experience in and demonstrated understanding of the ethics submission process and regulatory documentation preparation.
• Knowledge and experience of project management including the Tasmanian Project Management Guidelines and the demonstrated ability to exercise initiative in gathering, preparing, evaluating and interpreting information to support the achievement of project milestones.

Details of appointment

Permanent Part-Time, day worker position, working 38 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*Notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary

$85,196 to $97,915 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
