AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern to join our Orlando, FL office.

Our Internship Program, Explore, is designed for college students pursuing a degree in a STEM field and provides opportunities to learn what it’s like to work in a professional environment and apply what’s learned in class to the real-world challenges we face every day.  

RESPONSIBILITIES  

• Provide administrative and operations support. 

• Prepare material for reports and permit applications, gathering information and/or preparing work progression documents and graphic presentations. 

• Prepare assigned sections of reports working under the review of a more experienced professional. 

• Collect and analyze data using established procedures and participation in evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions. 

• Participate in conducting on-site engineering investigations. Travel to other states may be required, on occasion. 

• Travel to client sites for investigations up to 50%. 

• Assist Senior Engineers in the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings. 

• Participate on projects involving construction activities by reviewing shop drawings for conformance with specifications; assist in recordkeeping and in generating progress reports; observe construction procedures and collect samples for quality control testing. 

• Develop engineering calculations under the supervision of senior structural engineers. 

• Perform field observations of construction where appropriate. 

• Candidate must have a valid US driver’s license. 

• Must have good computer skills and be able to utilize standard office software. 

QUALIFICATIONS  

• EXPERIENCE: 0-2 Years experience in a related technical field. 

• EDUCATION: Must have completed 60 hours towards a Civil Engineering degree from an ABET accredited program by the start of the internship (Summer 2026). A focus in structures is preferred. 

• SPECIAL SKILLS: 

• Basic computer skills required to enter data into spreadsheets or databases. 

• Math skills to perform simple calculations; willingness to learn. 

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
