OVERVIEW OF PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES:
The School-Based Mental Health Clinician provides comprehensive, school-based behavioral health services to children and adolescents within a school setting in southern Westchester County. The clinician works collaboratively with students, families, school personnel, community providers, and agency staff to identify and address mental health, emotional, behavioral, and social needs that may interfere with a student's well-being, relationships, and educational success.
The clinician provides a range of evidence-informed clinical services, including assessment, individual and family therapy, crisis intervention, care coordination, consultation, and referral to appropriate community resources. The position requires the ability to establish effective therapeutic relationships with students and families, engage individuals who may be reluctant to participate in treatment, and provide culturally responsive and developmentally appropriate interventions.
The School-Based Mental Health Clinician functions as an integrated member of both the host school community and the employing agency, maintaining appropriate clinical boundaries while developing strong collaborative relationships with school administrators, teachers, counselors, social workers, and other student-support personnel. The clinician responds appropriately to emerging behavioral health concerns and crises while adhering to agency policies, professional standards, applicable New York State regulations, and school-based protocols.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
Clinical Assessment and Treatment: Conduct behavioral health assessments and provide individual, family, and other clinically appropriate services to students experiencing mental health, emotional, behavioral, or psychosocial concerns.
School-Based Intervention: Deliver developmentally appropriate, evidence-informed interventions designed to improve students' emotional regulation, coping skills, interpersonal functioning, problem-solving abilities, school engagement, and overall behavioral health.
Family Engagement: Establish collaborative relationships with parents and caregivers, provide education and support regarding students' behavioral health needs, and actively engage families in treatment planning and ongoing services.
Crisis Intervention and Risk Management: Assess and respond to behavioral health crises, including concerns involving safety, significant emotional dysregulation, suicidal or other high-risk behaviors, and other urgent situations, in accordance with agency, school, and regulatory requirements.
Care Coordination and Collaboration: Coordinate services with school personnel, agency providers, medical and behavioral health professionals, and community-based resources to promote continuity of care and address barriers to treatment.
Consultation and Prevention: Provide consultation to school personnel regarding behavioral health concerns and contribute to prevention, early intervention, mental health education, and other activities that support a healthy school environment.
Documentation and Compliance: Maintain timely, accurate, and clinically appropriate documentation in accordance with agency standards, professional requirements, and applicable New York State regulations.
