Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise to maintenance organization on troubleshooting failures, repairs, equipment evaluation, and work planning
- Operating reliability, QA/QC, troubleshooting, data analysis and implementation of electrical equipment
- Resolve and plan for obsolescence issues concerning the facilities electrical equipment
- Design and execute smaller expense/reliability-type projects including modification and/or addition to DCS improvements, PLC’s, field instrumentation and control systems, motor control systems, and process analytical systems
- Assist in the develop Preventative Maintenance (PM) strategies to facilitate increased reliability availability of key electrical equipment
- Support continuous improvement of the facility’s Mechanical Integrity program, Bad Actor program, and Rework program
- Provide support to capital projects and incorporate reliability concepts into the design of electrical systems through scope development reviews and approvals of hardware and software utilized on projects
- Evaluate all electrical engineering specifications to ensure all project objectives including safety, technical correctness, budget, constructability, schedule, maintainability, and operability are met
Responsibilities (continued)
- Ensures electrical installations are in-line with electrical system code compliance including engineering , Arc Flash energy analysis, area classification determination, and protective relay coordination
- Maintains work priorities to meet departmental capital and expense goals as well as required project milestone schedules
- Assists in assuring that all plant, corporate, and industry standards and practices are evaluated and met or exceeded so that all systems are properly engineered and maintained. Must be familiar with industrial plant electrical supply and transmission systems
- Complies with all Process Safety Management and Management of Change compliance measures as well as Chevron Phillips Operational Excellence directives to ensure that the design and operation of the plant electrical system meets or exceeds all requirements
- Work with the Reliability Department to identify long term reliability improvement plans for electrical equipment that align with turnarounds and reduce risk to production
- Updates and maintains electrical equipment spec sheet data
- Maintain an effective rapport with Maintenance Crafts, Relaibility, Operations, and Project Engineering groups
- Troubleshoot and participate in root cause failure analysis on electrical equipment and recommend corrective or preventive measures
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering OR High School Diploma and 10+ years related experience
- Minimum of 5 years Chemical/Refinery experience
- Knowledge of low, medium and high volt
