Summary:

The Deposit Relationship Manager is responsible for managing commercial banking depository accounts to maximize profitability to the bank with acceptable risk; through relationship management and business development.

Responsibilities:

Relationship Management

  • Serves as one of the main points of contact between client/retail/treasury management to ensure a seamless process for clients (ex. Coordinate account opening)
  • Manages day-to-day requests from depository clients which can include wire requests, fraud claims, transfers, new account requests, research requests, maintenance requests
  • Works the CD Maturity list-notifies clients 2 weeks prior to CD maturity about their CD and offering rates/solutions
  • Works the Large Transaction Report and reaches out to the Relationship Managers’ clients affected
  • May assist with account openings, implementation, working as a liaison between the client and internal bank departments
  • Monitors depository accounts tied to loans as collateral for proper setup and administration
  • Position will have overdraft decision making authority based on client relationship and evaluation of client account status, position will be responsible to review all factors and make an appropriate decision based on those factors
  • Follows bank policies and procedures by performing appropriate KYA, KYC and CIP on all accounts, both new and existing
  • Works all Account and CIF exceptions on a timely basis, to ensure soundness of auditory compliance
  • Runs Verafin/CIP/FIS on new clients and accounts
  • Deliver meaningful, sustainable value to clients by anticipating needs and expectations and providing appropriate value-add solutions
  • Ensures integrity and timeliness of client information, documentation, and data
  • Ensures each relationship is profitable and represents appropriate risk

Business Development

  • Identifies opportunities for new depository or treasury management business within existing portfolio and through networking with new clients
  • Maintains basic knowledge of banking products and services
  • Actively works with Sr Deposit Relationship Manager and Sr Relationship Managers to learn how to increase and perfect business development efforts
  • Provides existing and prospective customers with appropriate financial services and solutions
  • May represent the bank in meetings with customers, prospects, industry associations, etc. in order to develop new business
  • Expands deposit base opportunities to develop book of business over time 

Qualifications:

Education and Minimum Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent general education certificate (GED)
  • Minimum of 7 years of banking experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of managing depository relationships

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in business, accounting, or finance
  • Minimum of 5 years of banking experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of managing depository relationships

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

  • Familiarity with treasury management services and other banking products
  • Strong customer service skills, including timely follow up and attention to detail
  • Must have a high level of organization and work with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to form effective relationships with the other departments within the organization in order to deliver the best client service
  • General banking knowledge
  • Strong technical skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, as well as analytic and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate flexibility as business dictates
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and make independent decisions related to job responsibilities
  • Multi-tasking capabilities in a fast-paced office environment
  • Ability to meet time sensitive deadlines
  • Adhere to operational controls to ensure safety and security of customers and banks assets, including legal, corporate and regulat
