Wieland is hiring an Engineering Co-Op. This role is located in East Alton, IL , and will be fully on-site.
Responsibilities
Engineering Co-Op Responsibilities:
- Assist area Engineers in the support of plant operations
- Work with Operations personnel to assess equipment performance and determine the need for engineering intervention
- Assist Maintenance in problem-solving activities
- Conduct field investigations and prepare reports for problems, issues, and resolutions
- Work with Vendors and Contractors to source and execute jobs
- Participate in and lead improvement activities
- Safety Excellence
- Root Cause Failure Analysis
- Kata problem-solving
- Lean Manufacturing
- Assist in the management and execution of projects
- Develop and manage projects from concept to completion, including maintaining control of project expenditures to avoid cost overruns, supervision of contractors and vendors, and maintaining control of project schedule
- Develop detailed and thorough scope of work for projects
Engineering Co-Op Qualifications:
- Sophomore or Junior pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale
- General mechanical aptitude
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Good problem-solving skills
- High degree of personal initiative
- Excellent organization and planning skills to work well in a team environment and a diverse culture
