The Opportunity
- Corporate Accountant at a growth-oriented energy company
- You will play an important role in the accounting and reporting of several key business processes
- You will enjoy wide exposure to the SEC reporting and other teams, as well as to our multi-state operations in Texas, Montana, Wyoming, Washington, and Hawaii
- While this role could keep you busy and challenged for years to come, we are growing, both organically and via acquisition. A strong performance in this position could set you up to take on additional responsibilities or pursue advancement in our organization along multiple paths
- You'll have the opportunity to learn and grow into new areas, such as technical accounting and SAP, if you're not already familiar
- Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of various journal entries, summaries, and other documents needed for the company’s corporate accounting and reporting
Key activities include:
- Prepare and post journal entries during each month-end close and create summaries and reports for several business processes including corporate G&A, equity method accounting, debt accounting, and other areas
- Partner with Accounting Manager on technical accounting research and other special projects, as necessary
- Prepare general ledger account reconciliations for related accounts
- Prepare reports to support external financial reporting and SEC filings
- Prepare schedules for quarterly review and year-end audit processes with outside audit firm(s)
- Perform ad-hoc analyses as assigned
- Ensure adherence to and effectiveness of internal control in own area of responsibility
- Assist with special projects as assigned by Management
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
To meet the basic qualifications for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.
Additional qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent required
- Minimum 3 years of relevant progressive accounting experience required
- Minimum 1 year of industry experience with a public company preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, including complex/compound spreadsheets, required
- Advanced analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills preferred
- SAP knowledge/experience preferred
- Oil & gas industry experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with various stakeholders preferred
- Demonstrated ability to research, solve problems, and take initiative to recommend process improvements preferred
- Ability to work well independently and deal effectively in a rapidly changing environment preferred
- This is an in-office position in Houston
