Job Description
The Chief Estimator must be an energetic, self-motivated, and innovative individual who shall possess the skills required to successfully develop and execute estimating tasks, deliverables, be a collaborative team player, and shall be a strong leader to drive collaboration amongst all groups within CRB. S/he creates brand differentiation and pre-eminence for CRB in the market by working with teams to drive and support project estimating expertise, competitiveness, and standardization to create brand differentiation and pre-eminence in the market.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement innovative / disruptive project estimating standards, processes and solutions across CRB.
- Drive a culture of continuous estimating learning and improvement that maximize CRB’s risk/reward value proposition.
- Creation and ownership of strategy and priorities of CRB estimating expertise and specialty differentiation and drive this throughout CRB’s business.
- Manage CRB’s project estimating standards and processes.
- Drive design and construction estimating and cost awareness mindset into CRB’s culture.
- Provide estimating team leadership and promote trust and collaboration across CRB.
- Ensure training is embedded into the estimating team’s career path and oversee the development of our staff.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained across Corporate and Regional estimating Teams.
- Perform or participate in estimating staff employee performance reviews.
- Develop annual business plan for Estimating.
- Approval of estimating department costs (software, expense reports, etc.)
- Participate in regional and corporate Risk Committee reviews as necessary.
- Capably function as a Lead Estimator when workload requires.
- Collaborate with Office Leaders, Operations Directors and Senior Directors of Construction Operations to coordinate estimating and deliverable needs across the regions.
- Support regional bidding requirements, including scope development and bid analysis as required.
- Support LEAN integrated design and construction processes and work practices where practicable.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- College Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or equivalent experience.
- 15+ years of experience in Architecture, Engineering, and/or Construction Industry.
- Demonstrated success in leading and managing a team of cross functional estimating disciplines.
- Demonstrated breadth of experience in conceptual and detailed quantity take-off detailed estimating.
- Integrated Project Delivery experience, a plus.
- Life Science Design Construction experience (Food & Beverage a plus).
- Previous project management and/or pre-construction experience.
- Possess strong understanding of the project (and estimate) lifecycles.
- Understand project logistics and project schedules.
- Able to organize, plan and manage multiple activities to accomplish desired results.

- Life Science & Biotech Projects
- Food & Beverage Projects
- Science & Technology Projects
- Able to work effectively and make decisions under tight deadlines.
- Possess conceptual and detailed estimating skills.
- Understanding standard design and construction details and drawings.
- Individual must be self-motivated and possess strong communication/interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of estimating practices and procedures including software input and data manipulation utilizing estimating software such as Timberline (Sage Estimating) and OnScreen Takeoff.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
