Department Overview
Wildfire and Emergency Operations (WEO) at PG&E is responsible for operational mitigations, enterprise Wildfire Mitigation Plans, and enterprise Emergency Preparedness & Response. This includes Meteorology and Fire Science, Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS), and Enhanced Powerline Safety Settings (EPSS).
Position Summary
As a Software Product Intern for the Public Safety Power Shutoff Business Product (PSPS) Team, you will collaborate with product and business managers to develop a centralized Product Page related to Transmission, Distribution, and Communication functions for the PSPS System. This internship provides an opportunity to contribute to new processes that mitigate wildfire risk, reduce customer impacts, and enhance information sharing during PSPS event execution.
PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
The hourly rate for this position ranges from $22.77 to $35.11.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather requirements from team members to evaluate content for the Product Page.
- Design the UX layout of the Product Page, considering PG&E format preferences.
- Create mockups, finalize Product Page layout, and use SharePoint to build the page.
- Develop and roll out the Product Page, tracking usage metrics.
- Collaborate with team members to review and update documentation and training material.
- Work on a hybrid basis, with a remote office and an assigned work location within PG&E Service Territory
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently, pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, mechanical engineering, or an engineering field.
- Transportation to office locations is required.
- Continuing education towards a degree during and/or after the internship.
Desired:
- 3.5 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA.
- Technical and analytical background with software experience, including Microsoft Office Suite (MS SharePoint).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Initiative-taking and ability to work independently with minimal direction.
