As a Director of Assurance & Advisory Services at Berkowitz Pollack Brant you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing our firm's assurance and advisory functions. Your responsibilities will span across a range of critical areas, from leading audit engagements to providing strategic advisory services to clients. This position requires a strong background in auditing, accounting principles, and regulatory compliance, along with excellent leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Audit Leadership: Lead and manage audit engagements for clients across various industries. Ensure compliance with auditing standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices. Review audit workpapers, financial statements, and reports.

Advisory Services: Provide strategic advisory services to clients, including financial analysis, risk assessment, internal control evaluations, and process improvement recommendations. Collaborate with clients to identify and address business challenges and opportunities.

Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, serving as a trusted advisor and point of contact. Understand client needs, anticipate issues, and provide proactive solutions and guidance.

Team Management: Oversee a team of audit and advisory professionals, providing mentorship, training, and guidance. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the Assurance & Advisory Services department.

Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of audit and advisory work. Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices.

Business Development: Contribute to business development efforts by identifying new client opportunities, participating in proposal development, and promoting the firm's services. Cultivate existing client relationships and seek opportunities for cross-selling services.

Thought Leadership: Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and regulations in the audit and advisory space. Share knowledge and insights with internal teams and clients through thought leadership initiatives, presentations, and publications.

Qualifications:

  • CPA certification required; additional certifications such as CIA, CFE, or CISA preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; master's degree is a plus.

  • Extensive experience (X+ years) in public accounting with a focus on audit and assurance services.

  • Strong knowledge of auditing standards (GAAS, PCAOB), accounting principles (GAAP, IFRS), and regulatory requirements (SEC, SOX).

  • Proven track record of leading audit engagements, managing client relationships, and delivering high-quality advisory services.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to mentor and develop team members, foster a collaborative work environment, and drive results.
