About the role

Purpose of the Position:

The Senior Admissions Counselor is a member of the professional Undergraduate Admissions team that energetically and enthusiastically supports undergraduate recruitment and enrollment goals of the university. This position represents and interprets UAH accurately and persuasively to prospective students, parents, school officials, school counselors, teachers, alumni as well as UAH faculty, staff and students. In addition, this position manages the undergraduate admissions application review and decision processes, coordinates communications, and supervises a team of student employees.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Assumes a team lead role in promoting and enhancing University’s enrollment target. Develops and cultivate relationships with prospective students from the first point of contact through the point of class registration.
• Manages and executes personalized prospective student communications, including customized phone, email, and text message plans. Promptly responds to student inquiries and applicants.
• Participates in extensive, strategic recruitment travel. Assists in the planning and execution of on-campus recruitment events. Utilizes a CRM system to record detailed notes of interactions with all assigned student inquiries, applicants, and admits.
• Responsible for an area of strategic priority, collaborating with units across campus and leading the admissions team to achieve the university goals regarding an assigned priority.
• Works closely with the Director of Enrollment Management to develop goals and strategies that drive application growth, and support the goal of yielding qualified students throughout the enrollment process.
• Participates in extensive recruitment travel, including college fairs, receptions, high school visits, community college visits, and other recruitment activities to promote UAH programs to prospective students.
• Review and analyze completed admissions applications and making admissions decisions.
•Maintains application data integrity by inspecting applications for accuracy and authenticity and creating and executing integral data cleansing processes. M
• Manages various admissions processes including but not limited to term changes, major changes, withdrawals, admissions appeal, test-optional applications, disciplinary history reviews, etc.
• Serves as primary liaison to Registrar's Office and Academic Affairs regarding various issues involving student transfer credit, AB/IB test scores, readmit students, visiting students, etc. and primary liaison with a variety of vendors including but not limited to transcript delivery services, test score vendors, etc.
• Builds and manages several data cleansing activities to ensure data integrity in CRM and Banner.
• Collaborates extensively with Assistant Director of Enrollment Information Systems on data integrity, the efficiency of automated enrollment processes, application updates, the student web front end user experience, online forms, and more.
• Creates and analyzes reports regarding recruitment efforts, enrollment trends, and admissions applications to forecast enrollment projections and adjust admissions strategies.
• Responsible for various start and end of term processes integral to the admissions cycle
• Participates in the hiring, trains, supervises and coordinates the work of assigned work-study students or student employees and direct according to established standards; prioritizes, assigns, reviews, and coordinates work; assists with complex or problem situations and provides direction.
• Work closely with Director in the development of training procedures and manuals for admissions staff regarding admissions requirements, application processes, transcript policies, etc. for all student types.
• Manage all Admissions Processing communications, including but not limited to acceptance packets, scholarship offers, denial letters, missing requirements letters, scholarship upgrade letters, processing email communications, etc.
• Schedules and conducts individual in-person or virtual appointments with prospective students to provide admissions counseling and pre-advising throughout the recruitment cycle.
• Provides more in-depth consultations for undecided students.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelors degree, with 2-3 years of verifiable experience in recruitment, sales, marketing, communications, counseling, advising, customer service, or related fields, or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience
• Must have strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Database management skills is required
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Ability to travel and work some evenings and weekends is required
