About the role

Position Function:

The Director of Reporting, Planning and Analysis is responsible for leading the offices of Reporting, Planning and Analysis and Tax Compliance. The position is charged with overseeing the compilation of the University’s annual financial statements, facilitating the external audit and is the point of contact for stakeholders within and outside the University for all financial reporting and audit concerns.

 

Salary Grade:  18

Department Profile:

The main duty of Reporting, Planning & Analysis is to maintain the general ledger for the University and produce the annual financial statements. In addition, we establish and maintain the chart of accounts, reconcile all payroll liability accounts and process journal vouchers and charge files for departments on campus.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for oversight of the employees and duties of the Reporting, Planning and Analysis and Tax Compliance Offices.
2. Responsible for facilitating fiscal year-end close and for overseeing the compilation of required annual reports, including financial statements and year-end summaries.
3. Responsible for month closing and monthly activity reports notification to University staff.
4. Responsible for coordinating efforts to comply with audit requests for the annual external audit.
5. Responsible for research and implementation of all Governmental Accounting Standards Board Pronouncements.
6. Responsible for overseeing the efforts of the Tax Compliance Officer to maintain strict compliance with all tax laws.
7. Serves as the point of contact for all capital project accounting for the University.
8. Serves as the IHL Board point of contact for all financial reporting and audit concerns.
9. Responsible for oversight of the University’s chart of accounts and general ledger structure.
10. Responsible for financial analysis and forecasting of the University’s financial position.
11. Responsible for overseeing the completion and submission of all reports required by the IHL Board Office.
12. Responsible for compilation of ad hoc reports as requested.
13. Provides guidance related to the University’s accounting structure and procedures to fiscal officers and business managers throughout the University.
14. Responsible for maintenance of electronic storage software (Xtender) for the Division of Finance.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree in Accounting
2. CPA
3. Ten years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience working in Banner software application
2. Experience in university accounting

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Well-developed interpersonal and customer service skills.
2. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
3. Commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
4. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
5. Working knowledge of Crystal Reports.
6. Independent self-starter with strong work ethic.
7. Experience in work settings requiring teamwork and high-volume assignments.
8. Willingness to embrace new technology and adapt to new rules and regulations in ever evolving area of governmental accounting.
9. Ability to manage priorities and meet multiple daily deadlines.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

1. Routine deadlines; usually enough lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor; frequent evening and weekend work is required.<
