EMPLOYMENT TERM: 2026-2027 School Year (200 Days)
SALARY: Based on Calhoun County Teachers Pay Schedule commensurate with degree level and experience.
Salary based on experience and education level per CBOE salary schedule plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.

QUALIFICATIONS: Multi-Categorical Certification K-6/ 5-12 WV Teaching Certification; ALC Endorsement; Option Pathway Endorsement
- Holds or is eligible for a valid West Virginia Professional Teaching Certificate appropriate for the assignment in accordance with WVBE Policy 5202.
- Meets all West Virginia certification and licensure requirements for assigned grade levels and instructional responsibilities.
- Demonstrates knowledge of:
- WVBE Policy 2419;
- WVBE Policy 4373;
- WV Student Success Standards;
- Individualized Education Programs (IEPs);
- Section 504 procedures;
- Alternative Education programs;
- Virtual learning environments;
- Behavioral intervention and support strategies;
- Social-emotional learning practices.
- Homebound services;
- Credit recovery programs;
- Option Pathway programs;
- Ability to travel throughout the county as required.
- Demonstrates effective communication, collaboration, organizational, and technology skills.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Special Education endorsement or certification.
- Alternative Education Certification or willingness to obtain and annually maintain Alternative Education Certification.
- Training in trauma-informed practices, social-emotional learning, restorative practices, or CPI/de-escalation strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities
I. Instructional Program Implementation
The teacher shall effectively implement instructional programs for assigned students.
Performance criteria include:
A. Demonstrates accurate and current knowledge in assigned content areas.
B. Demonstrates current knowledge of:
- Behavior management;
- Social-emotional development;
- Conflict resolution;
- Trauma-informed instructional practices.
C. Collaborates with general education and special education teachers to obtain assignments, lesson plans, accommodations, and instructional resources.
D. Modifies instructional plans to meet individual student needs.
E. Employs a variety of instructional strategies to increase student achievement.
F. Utilizes curriculum scope and sequence and West Virginia College- and Career-Readiness Standards.
G. Provides instruction that supports academic success and school engagement.
H. Maintains continuity of instruction when students move between educational placements.
II. Learning Environment and Student Support
The teacher fosters a classroom climate conducive to learning.
Performance criteria include:
A. Follows established school discipline procedures, including WVBE Policy 4373.
B. Maintains a structured, safe, and orderly learning environment.
C. Encourages and monitors student attendance.
D. Supervises assigned students.
E. Provides support for at-risk students within assigned schools when not actively serving ALC students and may be assigned supervisory duties.
F. Collaborates with administrators, teachers, school psychologists, counselors, Student Services personnel, and families to develop and implement behavior support plans.
G. Treats all students fairly, equitably, and respectfully.
H. Accommodates individual learning differences.
I. Creates and maintains an environment that supports learning and personal growth.
J. Communicates regularly with parents/guardians.
