Who We Are Looking For

The Forecasting & Analytics Intern will be part of Clearway's Data Analytics team within Asset & Energy Management, helping us unlock the power of predictive analytics across our renewable energy portfolio.

This position is part of the 10-week Summer Internship Program at Clearway Energy Group beginning on June 1, 2026.

We are open to hiring undergraduate (rising juniors and seniors) and looking for students in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related quantitative fields.

Throughout this summer internship program, you’ll get exposure to real projects and challenges while gaining first-hand professional experience. At Clearway, you’ll gain access to an innovative and fast-paced work environment. You’ll also participate in networking and learning events with your fellow intern cohort.

This is a hybrid role that will be based in the Scottsdale, AZ. Our hybrid policy is that employees are in-office on Tuesdays & Thursdays.

What You'll Be Doing

This summer, you'll tackle a real business challenge: helping Clearway predict the revenue performance of our wind and solar assets. You'll explore cutting-edge forecasting techniques—from classical statistical methods to modern machine learning and time series foundation models—and benchmark them against real energy generation and weather data. Your findings could directly shape tools we put into production. You'll also investigate early-warning systems using statistical process control (SPC) to help our teams spot performance issues before they become problems.

The Forecasting & Analytics Intern's primary responsibilities will include:

  • Benchmark various time series forecasting tools (statistical, machine learning, and time series foundation models) on generation and weather data using Python
  • Evaluate the applicability of statistical process control (SPC) tools for early warning on performance issues at wind and solar sites
  • Develop interactive data apps, dashboards, and automate end-to-end data analysis and visualization
  • Assist in creating documentation for key datasets and tools
  • Present findings and recommendations to the team and leadership at the end of the internship

What You'll Bring

Core Knowledge and Skills

  • Python (required)
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis or machine learning concepts
  • Experience with data visualization libraries (e.g., Matplotlib, Plotly, Streamlit)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and intellectual curiosity

What Would Be Nice

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework or project experience in time series analysis or forecasting
  • Exposure to SQL or cloud-based data platforms
  • Interest in renewable energy or sustainability
  • Experience building dashboards or interactive data applications

 

The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law. This role is not eligible to earn an annual cash bonus, subject to personal and company performance goals.

Salary Range Across All U.S. Locations$23$30 USD
