Job Description

The Child & Family Research Center (CFRC) is recruiting for reliable student employees to assist lead teachers in providing high quality early care and education in classrooms with children from six weeks to seven-years-old. Using developmentally appropriate practices, help children learn pro-social behavior, communication skills, language and early literacy skills, cognitive development, and participate in physical activities to aid in the development of muscular, gross, and fine motor skills.

Assist in the development of emotional well-being of children by creating a climate of acceptance, empathy and diversity awareness for individual children and by providing developmentally appropriate alternatives to unacceptable behavior.

Responsibilities

  • Be reliable, flexible and able to communicate effectively with diverse groups of children, staff and parents.

  • Be willing and able to follow directions, perform routine cleaning and food preparation duties, and show initiative in performing assigned tasks.

  • Collaborate as part of a team with other staff in order to provide an effective, caring environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, successfully complete a background check, provide proof of a negative TB test, and complete 22 hours of required child care licensing training.

  • Candidate must have their own means of transportation to work at an off-campus building.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidates that are bilingual in Spanish are encouraged to apply.

Schedule

Expected hours to work per week: 15-25

Shifts will be scheduled within the following hours:

  • 9:30am – 1:30pm

  • 1:30pm – 5:30pm

The Child & Family Research Center (CFRC) provides child care for University of Nevada, Reno students, faculty and classified staff, and families who meet the annual federal poverty guidelines for the Early Head Start Program.
