Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Clinical Informatics, Nursing, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience / Qualifications
- Two (2) or more years of experience in informatics.
- Experience with MS Access and/or client-server relational database management systems (RDBMS) (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server).
- Experience with database import procedures and reporting procedures.
- Experience with healthcare terminology, operations, regulations, and quality metrics.
- Experience with Epic EMR systems.
- Experience with analytics software and procedures (e.g. SAS, R, S+, SPSS, etc.) is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
Position Summary
The Clinical Informatics Programmer is responsible for the development and maintenance of new software and databases to support clinical quality initiatives. The role is focused on information technology but is also strongly collaborative and clinical.
- Develop software/database requirement documents for quality initiatives identified by senior leadership.
- Perform database import from multiple data sources, including historical data, spreadsheets, EMR queries and other databases in varied formats.
- Create database input user-interfaces and reporting software, including interfaces to MS Excel.
- Collaborate with clinical quality professionals to support clinical aspects of quality initiatives.
- Continually broaden skills in clinical quality review to complement IT aspects of role.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the information technology department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
