The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education at The University of Alabama invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Elementary Education (grades PreK-6) with a specific interest in Literacy Education. A successful candidate will have a Ph.D in either Reading/Literacy Education, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related filed, with at least 18 hours of graduate coursework in literacy education, a strong potential to conduct high-quality research leading to publication, and teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level(s). Minimum Qualifications
-Earned doctoral degree in Reading/Literacy Education, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related filed, with at least 18 hours of graduate coursework in literacy education
-Minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience at the Pre-K-6 levels
-Ability to pursue a research agenda and external funding focusing on literacy education
-Ability to teach courses in literacy and foundations of reading at the elementary and/or early childhood level
-Ability to teach courses in elementary and/or early childhood reading and language arts methods.
