Job Description

The purpose of this position is to provide organizational intelligence to meet the decision-making needs of Minnesota State University, Mankato administration, senior advancement leadership and the Foundation to advance university fundraising, alumni engagement and university brand enhancement. The intelligence generated by the position will inform strategic, tactical and operational fundraising decision-making, identify strategic initiatives, and continuously improve efforts in support of the university’s mission.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an analytical, research-related field, such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Higher Education, Business or Social Sciences or related field.

  • Five (5) years of current working experience in data analytics, business intelligence or institutional research, including hands-on data analysis experience in a medium or large data warehouse environment, including building and maintaining SQL and/or Access queries and reports; performing quality checks and validations of data and reports; and developing and maintaining procedural documentation.

  • Experience with statistical modeling and use of statistical analysis tools such as SPSS, SAS, R, or JMP.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft (MS) Office suite of programs especially MS Excel and Access and data visualization programs such as MS Power Bl.

  • Knowledge of data warehousing and relational databases

Preferred Qualification 

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

  • Demonstrated experience with project management

  • Experience in higher education organizations

  • Experience working with higher education large scale databases

  • A thorough knowledge of quantitative methods and data analytics for a large complex organization, with preference given to experience in higher education organizations; Experience with statistical modeling;

  • Experience with report development and deployment, data validation and data governance; Experience with MS SQL, Reporting Services, MS Office (primarily Excel and Access) and Power Bl. Experience working with higher education large scale databases is preferred; Experience with project management.
